Household consulting and the House Book

A visit, an honest diagnosis and a written House Book, so the house runs well with or without us.

A first diagnosis, in one minute

Eight things every house knows, somewhere. Say where each one lives today, and the shape of your house appears. Nothing leaves this page.

Start with a conversation

Where most houses start

  • The house works, but only because one person remembers everything.
  • A new house manager arrives and spends months learning what the family likes.
  • Standards differ from one house to the next, and from one season to another.

What we do

We spend two days in the house to see how it really works: the rooms, the routines, the team and the family's habits. Then we write an honest diagnosis with clear priorities, and the House Book, the manual of your house.

Before we leave, we hand the House Book over to your team. From then on, the house runs well with or without us.

What is included

  • Two days in the house to see how it really works
  • A written diagnosis with clear priorities
  • The House Book: preferences, inventories, routines, suppliers
  • Handed over to the existing team, on site

How it works

How we work, in detail
  1. Conversation

What you want from the house, and what is not working today.

  2. Two days in the house

We watch, ask, count and take notes: rooms, inventories, routines, suppliers.

  3. Diagnosis and House Book

A written diagnosis with priorities, and the House Book agreed with you room by room.

  4. Handover

The House Book handed over to your team in the house, so everyone works from the same pages.

It is for you if

  • You have a good team and want them to work to one written standard.
  • A key person is leaving and you do not want the house to forget what they knew.
  • You run a family office that looks after several houses for the same family.
  • You would rather run the house yourselves, with the right method.

It is not for you if

  • You want someone to run the house for you every day: that is household management.
  • You want a document for the shelf: the House Book only works if the team uses it.
  • You need an emergency fixed this week: start with a conversation, and we will tell you what can be done quickly.

If your own team will do the work

Questions families ask

What is in a House Book?

The family's preferences, every room and what is in it, the daily, weekly and seasonal routines, suppliers and contacts, guest protocols, keys and security. It is written for one house and kept up to date.

Who owns the House Book?

You do. It is written for your house and stays with it, whoever works there.

How long does it take?

Two days in the house, then a few weeks to write the House Book and agree it with you, depending on the size of the house.

Can we do it ourselves?

Yes. The House Book kit in the Academy has the structure we use, ready to fill in, with a completed example.

How is the fee set?

Consulting is a fixed fee per project, agreed before we visit, so you know the cost in advance.

Tell us about the house.

Tell us about the house and the team. We will tell you what a House Book would change.
