A house that remembers, whoever is on duty

Household management software built on the House Book, for the people who run a staffed house.

The binder on the kitchen island

It is July and the house is full. The housekeeper arrived in May, and by now she knows the house. The boathouse key only turns if you lift the door a little. The linen in the blue room never goes in the tumble dryer. None of it is written down. She just knows.

In September she leaves for another house. She was very good, and good people get offers.

Next June, a new housekeeper starts on a Monday; the family arrives on Friday. The house manager puts the binder on the kitchen island, open at page one, and goes out to meet the florist. The binder is thick and mostly right. It says nothing about the boathouse key.

We are building House Book digital for that Monday.

Average job tenure for household staff has fallen from 20 years to 3.¹

What it does

A House Book is how a house runs, written down in fifteen sections. Our clickable prototype turns one into a digital house manual for a made-up house, Villa Aurelia.

Prototype phone screen, Today: the tasks for a dinner for twelve, each with a time, a name and its source in the House Book

The day writes itself from the book

Take a dinner for twelve. In the prototype, 18 tasks appear, each with a time and a name, and each says where it came from: the dinner sheet, the routines, the family's preferences, the guest list. Nobody sits up the night before typing the plan.

Digital house manual on the cook's phone: the 4 of the 15 House Book sections the cook can open
The family's preferences on a phone: food and drink open, the private pages restricted to the house manager

Everyone sees only their own pages

The cook opens 4 of the 15 sections and, of the family's preferences, only food and drink. Health and other private details stay with the house manager, never on a phone. Alarm codes, safe combinations and passwords are never in the book; it records who holds them, nothing more.

Two phone screens: a seasonal housekeeper's first day, with her procedures and keys, and her last evening, when access closes

When people change, the house remembers

When a seasonal housekeeper joins, the book prepares her pages: eight procedures with the house's own notes, the keys she will hold, her first day. On her last evening her access closes by itself and the keys come back. Her notes and training record stay with the house, and next summer's housekeeper starts where she left off.

Desktop view for the family office: four houses on one page, with who is on duty, open tasks, training and budget against plan

One view for the family office

On a desktop, the family office sees several houses on one page: who is on duty, what is still open, who is trained, the budget against plan. Spending above a house manager's limit comes to the family office for approval. The team only needs a phone.

Privacy, in plain words

A house manual gets photocopied and left on counters, so we began with what must never be in one. Codes and passwords never go in, not even the safe's. Health details stay with the house manager. Each house's data is kept apart from every other house's, and pilot houses get the technical details.

Who it is for

  • A family with one staffed house

Some of the team stays from year to year; some comes for the season. The new ones find their pages ready, and nobody explains the house again every June.

  • A family office with several houses

Family office household management often means a round of calls every Monday. Here it is one page, and spending above a limit reaches you before it happens.

  • House and estate managers

A house manager's day is mostly questions. With everyone on their own pages, fewer of them reach you, and the private pages stay with you.

Where we are now

The prototype is ready to click through. Pilots with a small number of houses start in February 2027, and we are looking for the first three. A pilot house gets early access, its book set up with us and a say in what we build. There is no price here because there isn't one yet.

Questions

Is it available now?

Not yet. It is a clickable prototype, and no house runs on it. Pilots begin in February 2027.

What will it cost?

We haven't set one yet, and there is no date for paid plans.

Does it replace our paper House Book?

It can, but it doesn't have to. It uses the same fifteen sections, so a house with a paper book has done the hardest part. No book yet? Start with the House Book kit, or we can write it with you.

Is our data safe?

Each house's data is kept apart, and nothing in the book would open a door or a safe. Pilot houses get the technical details.

Does the team need training?

Very little. On a phone it is a household staff app with today's tasks and that person's pages, nothing else. Training records stay in the book.

Which languages will it be in?

A House Book can be kept in two languages, the family's and the team's. Pilot houses will help us choose which come first.

Ask for a private preview

Tell us a little about the house. If it could be one of the first three, we will arrange a private preview.
